Sad, sad bear...
So who's this fellow, staring sadly from the window? 'Tis the baby cashmerino bear from one of Debbie Bliss's baby books- can't remember which one without getting up and hunting for it again and I can't be bothered. But this bear has been sitting in pieces in my knitting box for about 6 months now and suddenly (with the prospect of Rowan, the baby who will be in receipt of this bear, visiting in an hour) I decided he needed to be finished.
He has caused much hilarity. DJ Mikey thinks he looks as if he has gangrenous extremeties. He has certainly been hit with the ugly stick. But he also has a certain forlornness about him that we think will help Rowan learn that there is sadness in life as well as manic primary-coloured happiness...

I think he looks lovely. All he needs are cuddles in regular supply and I'm sure he'll get just that from Rowan.

Tee hee, your post reminds me of a bunny I spent ages making from Zoe Mellor's easy knits only for the parents of the newborn recipient to crease up with laughter saying that it looked like the rabbit in Donnie Darko. It didn't, but it did look pretty chuffing scary!

I think the fear of the lost of digits to gangrene will pass once he gets cuddled on a daily basis :P
I think he's just fine...but,I hope he's not trying to buy some loooove will all that money, that'd be just sad.

The rabbit in Donnie Darko! Now that really would teach the child about the darker side of life!
And Glittr- maybe we are two sides of the same penny!

love that bear, and the little sweater it's wearing rocks.
it's making me want to revisit bliss's "knitted toys" book that sitting on my knit books shelf.
when i first got it, i went on a knitted rabbit kick.
i'm thinking of kicking it up a notch and doing a bear out of brown sheep lamb's pride bulky.

I love the bear. Does he have a name? The colours are so cool - who said that bears had to be brown??
