Beautiful dolly dresses and small-scale doll surgery

Blurgh. What a day. WHAT a day (I sound like the retiring Aussie cricket commentator, thingie. Oh, I can't remember how to spell his surname, so it doesn't matter. And I'm traumatised.)

Yesterday, I received a parcel in the post from Malaysia, containing two Qipao dresses from the lovely Joo Li, proprietress of Dollsville.

These dresses are so beautifully made, and one of a kind. They came with little matching bags and bangles and a flower for the hair or wrist. Leon and Franke grabbed them and got to the garden first, so got first dibs on the posing. The light was poor, so apologies for the bad photos, but click on the thumbnails and check out the detail!

Joo Li also included a wicker bag and some hair clips for the girls- can I also just say how beautifully it was all packaged? I truly recommend her work. Fantastic and a real treat to receive.

You may think Franke is looking a little insane in the following photo. Well, I think she probably is insane: she spent last night with a spring green/blue eye chip rattling around in her head after it fell out (despite much glueing).

It was kind of like 'there was an old lady who swallowed spider...' scenario... as the chip followed two foil circles also...

Anyway, this afternoon I came home from work a little early to do stuff on the database (honest, Helen, after I've blogged this) and decided to have a go at removing the eyechip.

Much surgery later she is rattle free, thanks to the unscrewing of two screws and the tender administrations of a spoon as wedge and a pair of tweezers. I got the foil out too, while I was at it.

Anyway, here she is Mad Dog eyed (they haven't fallen out- I've checked 'em, they're ok (famous last words) and looking slightly ruffled- well you would be if you'd just spent the last half hour with your body clamped between your mama's legs, your body revolving like the young lass in the exorcist and a spoon sticking out of the side of your head- showing off the lovely Dollsville bag....

Such beautiful ladies in beautiful clothes. Sigh. If only my wardrobe could look as good as theirs.

Loving Franke's new look! How do the new eye colours work with the purple wig????

Ah...the wretched eye-chip in the head. I had the same problem when I did Lirienne's chips. Stupid non-sticking glue...I think I horrified the Boyfriend when I unscrewed the head and took off the body. Heh heh...

Have to admit haven't tried the purple wig on yet...

Am now going to re-stick both Franke's and Leon's eyes with proper PVA glue rather than Copydex.

Serves me right for being impatient.
