Sparkley scarfrat

scarfrat.jpg

Meet scarfrat

In a desperate effort to resist casting on Print o'the wave shawl prior to the start of the knitting Olympics tomorrow, I knitted this sparkley scarfrat. It's kind of a scarf, kind of a cravat, and ends in rat, which is always good. It will be a present for a woman's birthday in March.

Knitted on 5mm rosewood needles, in Sirdar Zanzibar in the Arabian Nights colourway.

I hate knitting acrylic.

I hate knitting eyelash.

Acrylic makes the ends my fingers swell and glow bright red, shiny and hot. Like a belisha beacon. Bleck.

Those needles deserve better. However the finished scarfrat is soft, it's a pretty colour, and has sparkle. Sparkle is good. I made the pattern up as I went along (Did I mention that I HATE ACRYLIC?), and it secures with a keyhole. Perhaps when the recipient wears it, I can get another picture. With better light. If I can be bothered.

And the close ups are pretty nice.....

I can completely relate to your hatred of acrylic, but I have to say... it doesn't look bad at all. And yes... sparkle is good. ^^ I have been trying to work up to buying some sparkling yarn myself, so I admire your motivation!

It looks like tinsel! But how virtuous of you to persist with it when you hate it.

It's very pretty, much prettier than the horrible Wal Mart acrylic I once bought in a fit of woolly ignorance many years ago. I'm impressed that you continue to knit with acrylic despite such an obvious aversion to it.
