Emma Goldman

I want freedom, the right to self-expression, everyboy's right to beautiful, radiant things.
Emma Goldman (1869-1940), feminist heroine, anarchist activist, editor, writer, teacher, jailbird and general trouble-maker.

I once read about an anonymous woman in the early 20th century who explained that she was a feminist because she wanted self-expression (or similar. I forget exactly the words). The journalist interviewing her pointed out that many men don't enjoy that. "Then they should become feminists," she answered. Bingo.

On a humbler note: the Purlescence blog is up at last. Obviously it won't be a patch on this one here, but do stop by.
