Danny

Remember this? Well, the hemp (from House of Hemp) is now this (the close up gives the best idea of colour - the weather is terrible for phtography here as it is so dark with constant rain):

Danny is the name of this pattern, knitted in the HoH 2 ply (which is equivalent to 4 ply) on 4mm needles, 3x3 rib cuffs, and 9x9 rib main body. Very little shaping, apart from the neck and the sleeve heads (not even any armhole shaping). As you can see, it only really began to look like the pattern after washing. Hemp from this changes completely once washed. This is explained very clearly, and everyone is advised to swatch before starting anything to get an idea of just HOW much it changes. Me being me, I just started. Anyway I am very pleased with the results, it fits like a dream, and I know that once washed again it will get very soft indeed (it's already nice on the skin). The yarn will get more lofty and drapey once it has had a vigorous wash - I only did a gentle handwash to get an idea of size once blocked, in case I had to rip the whole thing out.

The pattern was pretty tedious to knit, but the results are, I think, worth the boredom. I love plain garments, and this certainly looks classy. I like the unfussy neckline too, no edging, nothing. just plain. The resulting fabric is quite fine, which is great if you are worried about wearing bulky knits making you look larger. This is not bulky, and will not make me look larger. Great late Summer jumper, which will be useful in Spring too.

That is lovely- so the colour is more towards the dark teal than grey? I can't remember what the hanks looked like when you bought them at Woolfest...

Danny looks very flattering on you. I think you will get a lot of wear out of it.

Still no package? I'm getting worried.

It turned out really well and I love the colour. Well worth the 2x2 boredom.

Beeyootiful! I have the same problem - like to wear fairly fine, unfussy fabrics, but oh the boredom. Pays off, though.

Beautiful work there. So elegant, it may have been tedious to knit up but wow, it's a classic.
