Vintage roses socks

I knitted the Vintage roses socks which was a pattern in the recent free booklet with Knit Today. British knitting magazines, with the notable exception of Rowan (cue heavenly voices), are universally dire (waiting with baited breath for the second edition of Yarn Forward, though goodness only knows when that will be). However, the free booklet contained 5 patterns, 4 of which I will actually knit.

Enough of this blether, to the socks.....

I knitted tham in Rowan 4 ply soft, as the pattern recommended, though I went down a needle size, from 3.25 to 3mm. The original suggested doing the whole thing in one colour, but I decided to do the flower in a contrast, and changed colour at the toe to tone in. I used a bit of left over 4 ply cotton in a shade darker green for the leaves, going down from a 3.25 to a 2.25mm needle to knit those. Oh, and I used a different beading technique to that suggested, using the technique where you bring your yarn to the front of the work, slip a stitch knitwise, whilst sliding the bead up to lie at the front of the work, and then wrapping the yarn back to the back of the work for the next knit stitch.

All in all I am very pleased with the results. I only hope that their recipient likes them, and they fit her.....

I think they are absolutely stunning!

I liked the sock booklet too...the only reason I bought the magazine.

Hope you are well :)
