Sunday birdies

sunday_birdies1.jpg

Goldfinches, throwing away what they don't like.

I feed the birds on my balcony. It amuses my house kitty, Greebo, who enjoys my provision of cat TV during the day whilst I am at work. Sometimes I get to watch the birdies too. I chirrup less than Greebo.

We find watching the territorial ways of the goldfinches particularly amusing, bossy, fussy little things that they are, flashing around their colourful plumage, as they chuck away all the things they don't like, making food available to the less agile birdies who can then pick up their cast-offs from the floor.

Note the difference between the American goldfinch and the European.....

You know... We have gold finches... but they look completely different from those! Our's are ALL yellow, with just a smidge of black on the wings and such.
