Candy Pi

candy_pi1.jpg

Candy Pi, by Woolly Wormhead, from Going Straight

Knitted with yarn bought in Barcelona in December.
I love how this has turned out, it fits perfectly and the green is gorgeous. These pics are pretty true in terms of colour. I photographed it on my watering can, which turned out to be a patient and accommodating model. I used less than half a skein of this lofty acrylic based mix. I did actually enjoy knitting acrylic with this yarn.... The first time ever!

The pattern is Candy Pi from Woolly Wormhead's book, Going Straight. I LOVE how her hats are constructed - knitted sideways on, on straight needles. Fabulous, a - very sculptural method of construction. I would heartily recommend this book to anyone. It is worth every penny, and I will knit every single one of the hats in it. This one was knitted on 5mm needles and was a speedy knit, perfectly reasonable to knit one in an evening.....

I've been making Ysolda's lovely Urchins on 5mm straights, same construction, sideways. Makes a lovely hat, a nice snug fit, and finished in an evening.

This is a gorgeous sideways variation, you're right the green is very springlike and fresh looking.
