Saffron Gin

saffron_bottle.jpg

Saffron Gin, from Gabriel Boudier

Saffron Gin comes from the micro distillers of Dijon, Gabriel Boudier, and is based on an old colonial recipe of the 19th Century that was recently re-discovered. It is only produced in small batches using a traditional pot still.

Yummy gin, coloured and spiced with saffron (amongst a long list of botanicals). It makes a gin and tonic a strange (unfamiliar) colour, but it is delicious with Fever Tree light tonic, and a slice of orange. There are a load of cocktail recipes for this delightful gin. I was inspired to buy a bottle today as it is sunny and I seem to have missed most of the last month through illness, so as I am feeling a lot better I thought a nice g'n't would be just the thing.

I think there is nothing nicer than a good gin and tonic - it is perfect. Cool, sophisticated, not sweet and very delicious.

The bottle and label are very pretty too. Saffron is one of my favourite things, so I shall be keeping an eye out for this one. Think my JD & Coke addled palette will appreciate it?
