First ever quilt: a wedding present
I've always fancied the idea of quilts, admire others, read quilting books and enjoyed the colours and patterns. Even went to the V&A quilting exhibition with my mum a few weekends ago. I bought the new Jane Brocket quilting book, which was inspiration enough for me to get out my new sewing machine, unwrap it, take it apart and read the manual, get it oiled, and finally, put together a quilt for my cousin Barney's wedding. Suitably, considering the crazy material, the squares were cut out during Eurovision.
It's only a single size- for laying over knees rather than beds- and it's a very simple pattern, but the colours are delicious (I think) and the patterns amusing (who can resist minty polkadots in flannel, and Mexican skulls?). Just waiting on the wadding now, and then I will hand quilt to finish off.
