knitmonkey's additions
From knitmonkey:
helllo, hope this finds you doing well & wasn't sure if you needed photo's of what i had added to the blog :?
if so this is what i had added.
it was to represent my home/the beach&ocean, knit cup/knitty coffeeshop & the obvious monkey messing with the freeform lacey waves.
Spectacular.

From knitmonkey
Knitta wannabe
the blog landed in Seal Rock and seemed to be in a bit of a funk from being boxed up for so long. That day i went to work & figured i'd get photo's when i came home later that day. No such luck. Apparently, somewhere along the line, the blog got hold of the info on becoming a knit graffiti tag--inspired by the Knitta sight i presume? When i came home from work it was no where to be found, but luckily it just down the road a little, defiantly stuck to the tsunami sign (that really scares the tourists). I must commend the blog for it's brilliant choice of tag location, a thing that instills fear - yet is really only trying to be helpful. Fortunately the blog wasn't capable enough to become very secured to the post so it was easily removed & quickly returned home to be photographed before my addition, then boxed back up to be sent off to our Siress Yorkie.
Beware fellow knittyheads it's a rowdy thing of fiber! sincerely, knitmonkey

Progress is good! There is a lot to see there that wasn't there in the last photo update.....

The journal lives!
Here are progress pictures from deety, who has got the knitablog. See if you can guess where raeknits! added her bit..... And look - the journal is still doing the rounds too.
We seem to have got into a bit of a sampler mode, with everyone choosing to add a square...... how about trying to think of other ways to contribute? Edgings, more applique, embroidery, pockets, more three dimensional additions, picking up someone else's stitches... Think out of the box (perhaps that should read think out of the knitting bag?) but most importantly, have fun! Now - attention skwash78, it's you next!

It finally turned up!![]()
Here is how it looked when it reached her.... So one week from now it should be on its way to bensmumma. Gosh this project goes on and on...... and on.....
oh.my.god. I can not believe it. I went to my box today and the guy asked me to wait when he handed me a package. He said "I swear, I think I saw somehting for you that fell behind the shelves." I was boggled. At this point I had just figured the knit a blog was gone forever. The second he handed this mysterious package to me, I realized what it was!
Anyhow! Here it is! I'll get to work asap! YAY! RGP
Let's hope things move a little more quickly now!

It's half way through the Order of Creation
Well we started back in January and after a couple of nail biting moments when we thought it was lost, the knitablog is about halfway through the Order of Creation.
Now I know it was lost in the ether for a while, but I would like to gently remind participants that you only have 7 days from the project arriving with you to posting it on to the next person.
We want to keep the momentum going, and as we have a load of you in the US now, I would like to think we get posts more often, and rush faster through the seven days allocated to each person (not including postage time). Please check the rules too. We have got off track with pics - we started taking a picture of the WIP BEFORE you do anything to it. Can we get back on track with that please? Makes it more of a surprise when the postman calls.... As far as I can see (I haven't seen it properly yet) it's looking really great, and you all are being more than generous with your time, yarn, creativity and postage costs.... Please also make sure you add something to the paper journal which accompanies the WIP.
Can't wait to see how it goes from now!!!!!

zib adds to the knit-a-blog
After a long delay due to the postal systems in Europe, the knit-a-blog has been with zib for her allocated time and is now on it's way to the States.

Knit-a-blog progress
Well after some time the parcel has finally arrived with zib! We had thought it was lost and I had prepared tributes to post out to everyone participating, but now I don't need to send 'em! Yay! Looking forward to seeing zibs pics here, and to it moving on to the next person. The project goes off to the US next and journeys round a number of states before coming back to the UK. It is very exciting!

Knit-a-blog update
So Pebbles got a bit carried away and photographed not only the progress of the last person, but also of her own work..... never mind. I am prepared to relax the rules as long as we get progress logged, who cares who takes the piccies?
Pebbles decided to embellish, and made a flower for each of the UKnitty attendees....
..... I think this is mine......
..... the red, white and blue one is for Pebbles' SP...
.... and flowers bloomed all over the knit-a-blog.
Cream square - Pebbles Jnr, Ice Cream - Pebbles. Apparently the journal contains an explanation.
A close up....
...and another..... of Pebbles Junior's contribution....
..... and the final thing in all its glory!

The First Knit-a-blog news
So, the Knit-a-blog challenge is under way. As first off the blocks, here are a few close-ups of my offering- and believe it or not, it'll be sent off on time!

The Cornish Flag...

with the sun setting in the west...

ditto the moon (or a cornish pasty, if you want to be pedantic)...

and one of the animals I see frequently whilst out on walks and runs around my village...
So it'll be off in the post tomorrow, to the next in line...
By the way- I'll put in a little note-book that I have been writing in, about my section of knitting, what my thoughts were at the time etc. (nothing of note, really!)- those involved in the blog- feel free to add if you wish, but no stress if you don't want to :)

RULES
1. The knit-a-blog is a community based collaborative knitting and decoration project intended for fun and to stimulate creativity and wackiness and to provide a conduit for tangential knitting, textile art and good humoured tactile banter.
2. The idea of a blog is central to this challenge.
3. A knitted conversation will be started by Skitten and passed round as a knitting WIP to a number of people signed up to take part in the challenge.
4. The challenge will end when the FO is returned to glittrgirl and she has worked with it for 7 days.
5. On receipt of the WIP you will photograph the piece as it arrives with you and send by email to Scumkitten (skitten68atgmaildotcom)or glittrgirl (glittrgirlatgmaildotcom) for uploading to the glittyknittykitty blog where the progress of the WIP will be tracked. The knittyboard will be updated as the blog is updated so that everyone can see what's growing.
6. Each recipient can keep the WIP for up to one week (7 days) by which time it must be posted on to the next recipient.
7. Recipients may add to, embellish, graft on to, attach, change colour, pattern, yarn or in any other way increase the modalities of conversation in the WIP.
8. Recipients must NOT frog, remove or alter any work done to date of receipt unless there are specific instructions to do so, which you are entitled to ignore if you so wish.
9. Recipients must ensure that the WIP is passed on to the next person in a state that is easily picked up - ie stitches placed on a holder, pattern instructions included (which may be ignored or altered) and the WIP securely packaged so as to ensure that no 'words' in the 'conversation' are lost. The current knitter of the WIP should post a message in this thread about what s/he did as well as the first name and last initial of the knitter.
10. You may use any materials or embellishments you like but by agreeing to take part you agree to add at least one row of knitting to the WIP.
11. During your one week custody of the WIP you may invite as many people locally as you like to take part in the project - their contributions must be within your one week day allocation. Take it to
your SnB and get everyone to add something! You can do whatever you like to the WIP - add a sleeve, pocket, soft toy, use whatever size needles you like, increase, decrease, short rows, create a 2 dimensional or a three dimensional addition, add buttons, bows, ribbons, shiny things.
12. By agreeing to participate you agree to contribute freely your time, ideas, yarn, embellishments and postage to the next person.
13. By agreeing to take part you are putting your work and ideas into the public domain, and as such should be prepared to allow your work to be altered and added to by others. By agreeing to take part you give over the right of others to alter and redistribute your work under a Creative Commons license within the rules of this knit-a-blog.
14. The Finished Object (FO) will be raffled between participants, and the funds donated to the Knittyboards to fund their longevity.

The Great International Knit-A-Blog Challenge is REAL!
The Great International Knit-A-Blog Challenge, instigated by Rob, will begin on 17 January 2005.
We will blog the progress of the Work In Progress (WIP) here. 20 recruits each have the WIP for a week before passing it on to the next person. So far it will bounce between the UK, Finland, Italy, Germany and several States of America, before ending up back in the UK. The Finished Object (FO) will be auctionned and the proceeds donated to the Knitty Coffeeshop.
Please comment on the progress of the WIP as the pics appear, and if you have suggestions for content, do feel free to make them!
We cannot guarantee that anyone will take any notice, but it will be very interesting to see what you suggest!
We have had to start a reserves list of people wanting to take part. If we get enough interest we may start two WIPs and send them round the world in different directions!

Knit-a-blog challenge
OK.
This morning I got an email from a colleague who is equally if not more geeky than me. He has issued me with a challenge.
Quote:
glittrgirl read your blog - you have names for clothes and you like bright
colors too. Knit on! Is it possible to knit a garment in the style of a
blog?
So the challenge is to knit a garment in the style of a blog. I am prepared to co-ordinate this challenge. Read on.
RULES
