Spring, more BAMS7, kitty and a national treasure
Bulbs are starting to spring. This is the rest of my BAMS7 parcel - Dutch smellies. Nice!
Greebo looking happy with yarn, and Patrick Moore on the telly. Why? trying out taking pictures of the telly with my camera..... And he is a national treasure.

My boy is handsome again
The Greeboid one had an awful scabby, itchy, sore, summer. He seems fully recovered now, and his fur has grown back beautifully. He looks as handsome as he did before all his skin problems, and boy, does he know it!

Oh! The indignation!
Poor Greebie is in a buster collar, following him giving himself some awful skin injuries in a vain attempt to provide relief from flea allergy dermatitis. I thought I had caught the little buggers in time before they bit him, but I hadn't. Poor cat must be in itchy agony. Hopefully a few days with a bucket on his head will allow the wounds to heal, and the steroid injection provide some respite from the itching. Needless to say he has had antibiotics too.

Greebo likes the ironing board
Shame I don't iron that often.... this was out because I needed to press seams on the skirt I made yesterday.

Edited to add: Pic of skirt, courtesy of The Sibling.

Edited once to say thanks to Lucy for reminding me to add: Skirt came from a Clothkits kit, designed exclusively for Clothkits by People Will Always Need Plates. I merely cut out and sewed up. These kits contain everything you need except scissors, an iron and a sewing machine....

I ironed
And Greebo was shocked.

I don't iron very often - about once in every 6 months I guess. The ironing board is obviously a new(ish) place from which to survey the living room, and boy does he like sitting on the old board.
Do you think he is getting portly? Is he more rotund? Should I put him on a diet?

New chairs, but can I get the cat off them?
I bought two chairs for the balcony, in the hope that the weather will be better this year for sitting out there after work with a glass of wine, or a nice cup of tea at the weekend, whilst knitting in the fresh air.
I have a problem though.
Greebo likes them rather a lot.
I haven't put them outside yet, because the weather has been so poor, and despite them being under cover on my balcony, the wind has been ferocious of late and I want them to have at least a modicum of protection until things calm down a bit.
In the meantime......

Greebo - a cat of discernment
My cat, Greebo, is a strange sort of a puss.
He ain't a lapcat. He very rarely sits next to me on the sofa in fact.
Usually, when he deigns to share his space with me, I try to photograph him and post on this blog. It is a rare occurrence.
Tonight, I sat down to watch Russell Brand on the road - redriving Jack Kerouac's route across the US with his erstwhile sidekick/partner Matt Morgan.
Greebo sat next to me and watched the whole thing. Was he interested in sitting next to me, because I have been away and he has spent lots of time on his own over the last week or so? Or, was he sensing something that meant he really wanted to sit next to me and experience this documentary with me, because sensed some sort of cateradarey or something?
Who cares?! I had an hour of cat lurve next to me, whilst watching Russell and Matt experience the strange excesses of the US landscape. Like the salt flats.
Greebo last sat next to me to watch an episode of Dr Who. He really likes David Tennant's Dr Who. At least I think he does, as it's the only Dr Wo he has seen, and the only one he has sat next to me to watch.
Perhaps I exude something he likes at times like this..... Usually he only sits next to men.
Well done BBC4 for commissioning and showing this fascinating and entertaining programme. Brave in asking RB to do it, they were, but he did a good job, with Matt, I think. It must have been OK to make Greebo sit in one place (next to me on my sofa) for a whole hour.
Well done!

Catnip - its effects on Greebo
Greebo LOVES catnip. He usually likes to eat it. He recently realised that rolling in it had a different effect.......
He loves olive wood too, purring really loudly and rubbing himself on the olive wood. The nutcracker is one of his favourite things to drool on and cuddle.
I sometimes fill the cavity in that olive wood nutcracker with catnip...... as a special treat ....

Cats and boxes
Cats have a weird affinity for cardboard boxes..... They can sit in them for hours..... Greebo is a prime example....
And then after a busy day sitting in his box, he seeks comfort and lounging somewhere a little softer...
It's a hard life being a cat.

Greebo likes hiding and luxury
Find that cat....
There he is!
And he seems to like the new bedding....
I bought this Swirl bedding whilst in Leeds recently as we don't have a Habitat near here. It is beautiful, 100% cotton jacquard in bright fuschia pink and orangey red. Lustrous and silky soft, and warm too. And Greebo likes it. He is truly a cat of fine taste and discernment.

Greebo gets his revenge
I have suspected for a while that the girls tease my cat Greebo mercilessly whilst I am out of the flat. This morning I came into the living room to find Greebo doing this.....
I suspect he was indescriminate about which girl he chose to persecute, since Markku is normally an animal loving equal rights buddhist hippy sort of a girl who tries to stop Merrell from instigating stuff. Brenna kind of goes with the flow, and tends to get caught up in Merrell's bad behaviour by default rather than design. Or so I thought. Perhaps I need to reassess my girls in light of this awful incident this morning. Greebo, by the way, has lived here the longest, is a very tolerant laid back cat, and is not easily stirred. So I am ont blaming him for any of this.
Markku and Greebo are both fine, and neither cat nor girl were hurt or mistreated in the making of this blog entry (I really did catch this by chance).

Quand je retournerais chez moi....
I got a parcel from my SP from round 4....
which contained a card, some notelets with flip flops on them, a little book of Knitticisms and Other Purls of Wisdom, a skein of gorgeous Alchemy Yarns bamboo in Forest Waltz and an ingenious and very lovely bracelet that doubles as a row counter, with matching stitch markers.....
... and a beautiful mobile/windchime...
... and a small box entertained a large cat! Always amusing. Thanks Amy for the lovely box, I always feel a bit blue when I get back from nice times abroad with chums, and this parcel really brightened my return! I have no idea where you find these lovely knitty things, or how long you must spend choosing the things to send me, but I really do appreciate the thought and care you put into each fabulous parcel.

Cat inspection

Here's a pic of the finally lined Unbiased bag in recycled sari silk from Nepal. I added about four inches to the bottom of the bag to make it deeper, and lined it in purple cotton. I sewed the handle to some purple petersham ribbon so it wouldn't stretch. It's really strong and is very comfortable to wear across my body. I am really pleased with this project.
My cat, Greebo is inspecting my handiwork. Hope its up to standard!
