Been away - now I'm back

Lots of walking in Cornwall, and a bit of yoga too. Feeling pretty good and it was fabulous to spend a few days with Scumkitten.. More news soon.

Going down, I think

I have not been slogging myself over this return to fitness thing. That's because I actually want to carry on with it, so I don't want to sicken myself or put myself off going to the gym, or doing yoga/pilates.

I am not weighing myself - that's too depressing. I am not measuring myself either. And I am not depriving myself of anything -if I fancy chocolate/wine/cheese I am having it. I am simply having less.

It seems to be paying off. I have noticed that I can manage an hours cardio now with no problem, and have started stepping up the resistance/speed/slope on the cardio equipment to push myself a bit - but bot too far.

I am getting a bit looser in the old tendons.

But best of all - I have gone down from a 36D to a 34DD/34E bra. That's two inches off my chest girth. It's weird how I lose weight. Now that some fat has gone from one place, its making my belly look even worse. I can only hope that it goes from round my middle next.....

Return to fitness

I decided that at the start of April I would begin on the road to my return to fitness.

I have always been a pretty active person, doing a lot of gym going, dance and yoga after I gave up gymnastics in my late teens. I like doing things that are physical and I like feeling powerful, which I do when I am trim, supple and flexible.

I haven't been any of these in well over a year.

I would have started at the beginning of the year, but January is a dire time to start anything which requires long term commitment, so I waited until the nights were a bit lighter and the clothes weren't quite so bulky.

I joined the gym. And I started cardio training and weight training. I am taking it easy and building my stamina and my programme gradually.

I have, in this my third week, begun to add in some yoga and pilates for suppleness and flexibility.

I have decided to chronicle my path here in this new section entitled Return to fitness.

When I am looking a bit better, I may post some pics s that I can track my progress. That prospect is pretty scary at the moment.

Anyway:

Week one: I went to the gym twice and did 30 minutes cardio the first and 35 minutes cardio the second time.

Week two: I went to the gym three times, and did 40 then 45 then 50 minutes cardio. I also added one 20 minutes weights session.

Week three: So far I have been to the gym once and done one hour of cardio, and for the past 5 days have done either pilates or yoga before getting ready for work for 45minutes-1 hour.

I plan to add more posts as I do more exercise and use this as a way to track my progress.

I am not weighing myself. That would be too depressing.

I have noted that the sleeve cuffs on two of my blouses are slightly looser and my tailored linen trousers are not cutting into my waist by the end of the day.

I have more energy and feel more centred and focussed.

I plan to drop two dress sizes. I am not bothered about what weight that takes me to, just that my clothes fit better, and I feel good enough about myself to wear my bikini with confidence. (BTW I have never stopped wearing bikinis, I just do it with less aplomb than when I have less bellyage).

There.

Confession mode over.
